Dr. Andre Le Lann handling Hosky in Brussel's, a famous man with a classic Bouvier.
Although not the best quality photo, for me it captures much of the spirit of the era. Le Lann was famous as a trainer of several of Justin Chastel's Bouviers in France, winning the Campagne Championship of France in 1968 with Ksar de la Thudinie and later an influential international conformation judge.
To see what is meant by "classic" look at the 6 generation pedigree below and notice the hand of Justin Chastel everywhere. Now go back to and look at the photos of Job or Tapin de la Thudinie. These dogs tended to get a little shorter and straighter in the back as time went on, and Hosky might be approaching the limit, you would have to be able to go back in time and compare the movement. Shorter and straighter in the back was a direction set down by Chastel, but there had to be a limit beyond which it becomes too much. Very difficult to judge definitively from old photos!
