The McEniry Letters

Our President finally replies! (Click Here)

These memos from Mr. Frank McEniry, former President of the North American Working Bouvier Association, to the NAWBA Board of Directors and both of his friends in the Bouvier world, are presented here to provide the membership with a valuable insight into his philosophy and character.
It will be most interesting to see how the NAWBA board deals with this mess, for if they do not make a strong repudiation of these memos,
and in effect of Mr. McEniry and his leadership, than quite naturally they
are going to be perceived as morally equivalent.

(These E Mails from McEniry were from the E Mail account of Brigitte Harrisson.)

Hello everybody,
Yeah we are basically in agreement and NO people are not any more familiar
with much of this in Europe.
Waiting to see the new version of the Character
document!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As far as the Character Commitee though it was never dissolved it basically
comes to an end this month and you have the responsibility and authority to
re-create one in your new mandate as President. I wish to remind you that I
was also a member and as creator of this whole movement would expect to
still be involved. The primary reason the commitee did not function and I
assume responsibility was the lack of qualifications of the people
involved. I strongly recommend you take extra caution in selecting commitee
members, if you so decide to pursue the committee idea ??????
I would recommend these prerequisites before even considering potential
candidates:A) Having been a NAWBA member at least 3 years, B) Having
attended 3 NAWBA Championships in the last 5 years, C) HAving titled at
least one bouvier through schH III or Ring 3. These criteria would assure
dedication to the breed , understanding of the current status of the
bouviers , and experience and competency in working bouvier character.
Yes i authorize you to take over the procedural part of getting the
Character Tests approved NOW....
Advice--Definitely think the people should have the right to indicate the
"titles" "TEST" or "TAN" after the dogs name A) you can't prevent them
from doing so ,B) it helps promote the whole concept and gives people a
sense of pride. I realize the downside but we can't start playing ombudsman
and start controling canine transactions .....crooked salespeople will
always exist and remember what P.T. Barnum said "there's a sucker born
every minute" . As you state it's a question of education and exposing the
truthfulness and validity of the test.
-------Cocerning responding to Engel I think and strongly recommend to
reduce your level of frustration you and the board as a whole limit your
interaction with him, believe me it works. If i would have responded to
all his accusations and trap-querries throughout my term you would have
seen him using them at a further date hypocritiquely as he always does.
That's why he keeps coming back with that silly trial entry of 3 years ago.
Most serious people know he is a buffoon and basket-caase. The constant
fear that he has much influence is false. Anyways if you wish ot respond
you have my ok but as you stated I would like to see the response before it
goes out.
Your e-mail of 10-12 98--web page
I say go ahead but forget that brreed certification thing as it was never
instituted and propels Jackass Jim in the spotlight possibly giving him
some sort of credibility in the current state of affairs , something he
doesn't deserve. I'm telling you ...stay away from him......oh yeah thats
true PSYCHO is coming out again .......Norman where are you hiding?????????
Can you fill me in with what you say is showing up on the NAWBA if it is
something other than Engel shit.
Yours truly,
Frank

Well I must point out that my memo of yesterday was not meant to piss off
or offend anybody but rather a sincere expression of my feelings and
thoughts.
Seemingly Mr. Motley took offence as he does not fulfill the basic criteria
I proposed for standing on a Character Committee.

NEVER DID I RIDICULE OR IGNORE ANY IDEAS. AS FAR AS WITHHOLDING INFORMATION I NEVER REFRAINED FROM ANSWERING ANY QUESTIONS BUT I SURELY WAS NOT GOING TO DO MOTELYS HOMEWORK ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING HIS ATTITUDE WHICH PERSISTS TO THIS DAY.
AS FOR BEING UNAVAILABLE FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME THOUGH I HAVE BEEN
TARDY WITH E-MAIL CORRESPONDENCE ALL PHONE CALLS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN
RETURNED WITHIN 24 HOURS.
AS FAR AS ANSWERING THE SILLY "CHARGES" ,HAD MOTLEY BEEN AT THE ANNUAL
MEETING HE WOULD HAVE HEARD THE ANSWER FROM THE HORSE'S
MOUTH. NOW HE CAN WAIT AND READ IT IN MY FINAL PRESIDENTS MESSAGE LIKE ALLTHE OTHER MEMBERS.
PLEASE STATE WHO AND HOW ANYONE WAS EMBARASSED, INSULTED ,INJURED OR
AFFECTED AND MAKE AN EFFORT TO FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO DIRTY ME WITH
,SOMETHING OF IMPORTANCE TO THE ASSOCIATION. YOUR BUDDY AND PEN PAL ENGEL
HAS BEEN SCRATCHING HIS HEAD AND THAT FUTILE AND MEANINGLESS
ACCUSATION HAS BEEN THE BEST THING HE COULD COME UP WITH IN THE LAST 2 YEARS.
CASE IN POINT:
Mr. Motley has NOT been present at the last 2 championships(during his term
in office) and has attended but ONE or maybe TWO annual NAWBA events
ever.
Mr. Motley appears to be an intelligent person with a sincere passion for
the bouvier but has limited and only recent experience with working dogs
having just recently attained his first working title ( a preliminary Ring
title--a Brevet) several months ago.
As to Mr. Hollinger junior well, what can I say ,
eager---yes,passionate---yes, young and cocky---yes, BUT necessarily not
experienced. He does not fulfill any of my proposed criteria..Hell I don't
think he's ever been to a NAWBA event.
It quickly became clear to me after I had spoken to these 2 people that
they were disillusioned with the status of the bouvier in our organization
and had even less of a clue of what the situation was on a global context .
As to my proposal , once again they were(or are) a little late , MINE WAS
IN SIX YEARS AGO AND IT AIN'T NO DREAMED UP CONCOCTION but out of
respect
for the MOTHER club, practicality, and uniformity it is something that
already exists and more than serves the purpose.
In closing Tim ,it comes down to respect , you and others should be more
respectful of individuals who have been around the block a few more times
than you and who have researched, travelled, and devoted more time to the
working bouvier.
In passing Mr. Engel addressed the issue of his accusations at the annual
meeting . After I had finished responding to his questions I asked him if
this satisfied him and his answer was an affirmative YES. He even came up
to me afterwards to ask privately if I would reconsider my decision to
pursue another term as president. A few weeks after he started up again
with nthe same silly accusation, that my folks,
is either someone who is mentally disturbed, a hypocrite, or someone who's
got no testicles---chicken shit.
With all this nasty and silly crap flying around and the other ridiculous
American saga --Clinton-- going on I still hope you are all getting ready
for a festive holiday season.
Try smiling folks,
Frank
